At the E3 Coliseum, Netflix's Director of Interactive Games Chris Lee announced that they are now working with Fortnite developer Epic Games and a Stranger Things 3 crossover event is already on the way. He teased that fans "may have seen in Fortnite season 9 that we had a Scoops Ahoy (ice cream store) from Stranger Things show up in the mall, so there's a bit more behind that in a few weeks."

Yes, couple of days before, some eagle-eyed Fortnite fans have spotted some significant map changes on Fortnite map following the Season 9 update– a very blatant Stranger Things reference.
 
Players spotted (and captured a picture of) that a familiar ice cream shop inside the mall – Scoops Ahoy, the store Steve is working at in the season 3 promotional material.

 
There’s a ton of changes with Fortnite season 9, and each change means something. It's likely more of a tease than a simple homage. For example, Epic Gamesadded John Wick's house into the game, hitting a John Wick crossover event. 
 
With that in mind, The nest question: what does this mean? Some players are guessing that a Stranger Things crossover with Fortnite could happen at some point this season or soon after it.
 
And Netflix's Director of Interactive Games Chris Lee’s talk at E3 Coliseum seems to confirm that either some sort of Stranger Things-themed Limited Time Mode or cosmetic bundle will be arriving to the free-to-play battle royale game, which has already seen crossovers with the likes of Avenger: Endgame, John Wick 3,and, uh, Nike's Air Jordans. 
 

 
 

Stranger Things 3 will launch on July 4, which will be during the duration of Fortnite Season 9. That’s a while off yet, but the overlap between Stranger Things fans and Fortnite players is bound to be enormous.
