Fortnite Season 10 is coming! For those players who are anticipating the launch of Season 10 for the game might want to start saving up for a new graphics card as Epic Games has decided that deserves a small bump in the game's minimum requirement spec, and recommends that a DirectX 11 graphics card as an absolute requirement for Fortnite Season 10.

 
In a June 21 announcement, Epic Games announced that Epic Games said that starting with Fortnite Season 10, players on the PC will need graphics cards that are capable of running DirectX 11. The game will no longer support DirectX 10.
 
“... We’ve kept support online for players with older graphics cards - so they could keep playing!However, when Season 10 begins, Fortnite will no longer be compatible with these older graphics cards. This allows us to focus our development and testing efforts to further optimize the Fortnite experience for all players.” Epic Games explained.

Fortnite players who are not sure if their PCs come with a graphics card that can support DirectX 11 should mostly not worry, as there is a good chance that the answer is yes. Any Nvidia graphics card released since the GeForce GTS 450 will be just fine to run DirectX 11. The GTS 450 was originally released in 2010, so if your card is newer than that it should be fine. As for AMD cards, the range is even bigger. Any card since the Radeon HD 5450 should be fine with DirectX 11, which covers almost any card released by the company since 2009.
 
This means that most Fortnite PC players will not be affected by the upgraded system requirements. However, for those who are on aging machines, it may be a good idea to not just buy a new graphics card, but to purchase a new laptop altogether. How to check if your PC can run Fortnite Season 10?
 
1. Press Windows key + R
2. In the command box, type ‘dxdiag’ and press enter
3. The dialog box will display your current version of DirectX
 
If the number is 11 or above – you don’t need to upgrade your GPU. However, if the number is lower than 11, you will need to purchase a new graphics card in order to play Fortnite in Season 10.
 
Epic said it’s making this change to allow the Fortnite development team to better optimize the game for all players by no longer ensuring compatibility with much older technology. The change should take effect with the first patch of season 10. The official release date of Season 10 is yet to be revealed but with Season 9 set to end on August 1, it’s safe to assume that the next season will be live on August 2.
